welcome

Welcome all students, parents, fans and supporters of the Atlanta Public Schools Athletic Program. J. Beggs

It is an exciting time as we prepare to launch the 2011-2012 school year, and the role that athletics will play in what will be a great school year. Atlanta Public Schools has a strong and rich tradition of athletic success. Through many years, our schools system has produced strong student-athletes with success in the classroom as well as on the fields, the courts, the courses, the mats and in the pools. APS Athletics has also produced many State Championship teams for many decades. Our success is defined not only on the scoreboards, but also by the impact we all have on the lives of our students.

The Department of Athletics offers a wide variety of interscholastic opportunities for our students. It is our goal that all of our students get involved in our athletic program. There are so many lessons that can be gained from being a part of something bigger than yourself. There is a place for everyone. The qualities that can be learned include team work, dedication, desire, hard work and accomplishing things one never thought they could accomplish. Our responsibility to each of you is to provide the very best we can for each of our student-athletes.

We also hope that you find our new athletic website informative. Thank you for visiting and our goal is to keep the information provided as current and as up to date as possible.

Again, thank you for your support of our students, our student-athletes, our schools and our athletic program. There is no reason why we can’t be the very best at all we do. In order to meet that goal, all we need is you.

Jeff Beggs
